Domenique Perez pled guilty to one count of felony theft on September 10, 2009, and was sentenced on November 19, 2009 to 10 years in state prison.  Perez was the owner and operator of Custom Creation Enterprises in Zachary, Louisiana.  Based on an investigation conducted by the Securities Division of the Louisiana Office of Financial Institutions, it was determined that during 2006 Perez executed “Investment Agreements” with ten individuals totaling $231,000.  Investors were told that their funds would be used to purchase and renovate homes damaged by Hurricane Katrina.  These homes were then supposed to be resold, with profits returned to investors.  No homes were ever purchased by Perez.  The investigation also determined that Perez accepted funds totaling an additional $55,000 from two individuals to make repairs to their hurricane damaged homes.  These repairs were also never made.  The Securities Division concluded its investigation in November 2006, and Perez was arrested on December 12, 2006.
